We’re pumped to have you all back in the gym, and we’ve been working hard to make sure that you can return to the gym as soon as possible. However, the impact of COVID-19 will mean that we will be operating a little differently when we start to reopen our facilities.

We thank-you in advance for your patience and understanding during this time.

Queensland - Key Changes

Phase 2 - From June 2nd

  • Members only – gym access requires active membership
  • All gyms are split into Zones bookings
  • 1 hour 45 minute climbing session – you will need to book in
  • Under 13yrs members can climb at West End and Newstead but must be accompanied by a guardian who is also an active member.
  • Kids sessions – we are running a under 13’s sessions on Saturday mornings at Newstead for those under 13yrs who do not have guardians with active memberships
  • Liquid chalk only – no powder chalk
  • No physical fitness and yoga classes

Phase 3 - From July 11th

  • Access for members + visit pass holders and casuals
  • Maximum of 100 patrons in each facility at one time
  • Liquid chalk only – no powder chalk
  • No booking system
  • Physical yoga and fitness classes will resume (10 person capacity)

Victoria - Key Changes

Phase 2 - From June 22nd

  • Members only – gym access requires active membership
  • 2 Zones of 16 patrons – maximum 32 patrons in a facility at one time
  • 1 hour 45 minute climbing session – you will need to book in
  • Liquid chalk only – no powder chalk
  • No physical fitness and yoga classes
  • Strictly 13+ at all times

Phase 3 - Not Announced

  • We’re still awaiting the announcement of phase 3 guidance for Victoria.
  • We will update our gym operations once we know more.

Climbing (Who & When)

Opening hours

We’ve temporarily changed our hours to 6am-9:30pm, 7 Days a week across all venues.

Can I just rock up and climb?

No. You must book a session prior to arriving at the gym. Bookings will be available online – 7days in advance. Book Here.

Can under 13yrs use the facilities?

Newstead and West End will be open to under 13yrs members provided they are accompanied by a guardian who is also an active Urban Climb member.

If your child is a member but you as a guardian are not we will be running a supervised 8am Saturday session at Newstead. This session is supervised by our coaching team. Parents will not be allowed into the facility during this time due to the 20 patron facility capacity.

When can I climb? - Active direct debit memberships

You can climb from the June 2nd (Qld) or June 22nd (Vic).

You will need to book in for a session to climb. Bookings will open 7days in advance. Book Here.

When can I climb? - Suspended direct debit memberships

You will need to first re-activate your membership payments. You can do this by:

  1. Login into the Booking System with your UC barcode

  2. If you are suspended you will see a pop-up window asking if you want to remove the suspension now.

  3. Once you select ‘Ok’ you will receive an email confirming your choice.

  4. To remove the suspension you must click the link in the email. This will take you to a page requesting conformation on your reactivation

  5. If you have any issues reactivating your membership you’ll need to contact us and request that your membership be reactivated. This process can take up to 48 hours.

You will need to book in for a session. Bookings will open 7days in advance. We will share the link here and across our social media channels once it becomes available.

When can I climb? - Multi-pass holders (10 & 100 visit)

You can climb from Phase 3, July 11th (Qld).

The date for Phase 3 in Victoria have yet to be determined by government authorities.

When can I climb? - Casual entrants

You can climb from Phase 3, July 11th (Qld). Alternatively you can purchase a membership here to gain access earlier.

Can we lead climb?

Yes, lead climbing will be available to those that have their current lead certs.

Sessions & Booking

Booking limits

The booking system is locked on 1 booking a day. You can however scoop up a few additional ‘Book Last Minute’ spots that won’t count towards your visit quota if you wish to climb more than once in a day. These are sessions that are due to start within the hour but are not currently full.

How do I book a climb session?

Can I use the whole facility once I've booked a session?

No. All gyms have been split into separate zones. During a session you will not be able to freely move between these zones, but must remain in the zone you booked into.

I am just a belayer do I need to book?

Yes. Only 20 people are allowed into each venue each session. This is inclusive of those who are just attending to belay.

When will the bookings open? Daily or Weekly?

You will be able to book into sessions up to 7 days in advance.

What happens if I book in but then miss that session?

If you are not going to make a session please make sure you cancel your booking. If you fail to cancel and miss 1 booking  then you will be blocked from signing up to classes for 7 days.

How to a cancel a booking if I can no longer attend the session?

To cancel a session simply login to the booking system and re-click on the session highlighted green. You will get a small pop-up message asking if you wish to confirm your cancellation. Select okay to cancel.

Entering the Gym

I have flu like symptoms , can I still come in and climb?

No. Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough, or difficultly breathing, please stay home and seek medical care if needed. In case you missed it…PLEASE STAY HOME.

Do I have to wear a face mask?

No, you do not have to however we highly recommend it.

Can I use cash to pay?

No. We will be only be accepting card payments.

Why are you taking my temperature?

This is a regulation for all patrons under our Covid-19 safe plan. It is to ensure the safety of all Urban Climb members and staff.

What is your Covid Safe plan?

I have missed the Urban Climb staff and members, can I give them a hug?

Hey! Back off! Please, no hugging! Air hi-fives are fine though. Please keep a 1.5 meter distance from staff and other climbers.

Can I bring my dog along to the gym?

No. We’re temporarily going to have to ban dogs from the venues.

Trust us! We’re just as sad about this one as you are.

Equipment & Facilities

Let's talk chalk

We will be operating under a ‘no powdered chalk’ policy.

You may only use liquid chalk.

Can I hire chalk, harnesses and shoes?

Chalk will be unavailable for hire, in line with our ‘no powder chalk’ policy. You will be able to hire a harness and shoes. These items will sanitised between users.

Can I have a shower after my climb?

No, all shared facilities will be closed during Phase 2. These facilities will gradually start to reopen during Phase 3.

Can I still use the weights and gym areas?

Yes. These areas can be used during your session booking in Phase 2. There will be cleaning procedures in place after using equipment that all members must follow.

Yoga & Fitness Classes

When can I attend physical yoga/fitness classes?

From Phase 3, July 11th (Qld). 

The date for Phase 3 in Victoria have yet to be determined by government authorities.

How many people will be in each physical class?

10 people. Class sizes will be reduced to allow for appropriate social distancing measures.

Are the online classes still going to run?

Yes they aren’t going anywhere! You can check out the online class schedule here.

Do I need to bring in my own yoga mat?

Yes! Please bring your own mat or towel. We cannot share equipment.

Kids & Youth Classes

Can I bring my child in to climb before classes start up again?

When will the Youth Program start back up?

The Youth Program will be restarting from July 18th. 

There will be online classes for Goannas and Spiders kids until Phase 3.

There will be weekly sessions in Phase 2 for:
  • Super Goanna Tuesdays 4-5:30pm Newstead
  • Super Spider Fridays 4-5:30pm Milton
  • Youth Squad Mondays 4-5:30pm Newstead

How will the Youth Classes run in Phase 3?

In Phase 3 classes will return to a semi normal state while following social distancing measures.

  • There will be no Gecko classes until further notice.
  • There will be a new schedule for the Spiders and some groups of Goannas
  • Classes will be divided into smaller groups and climbing in zones within the gyms
Parents will be contacted with further information on the Youth Program prior to the gyms reopening.

My child is a member but I am not. Can they still climb?

If your child is over 13yrs they may climb but you may not enter the gym to supervise.

If your child is under 13yrs they will not be able to climb during regular session times. We have allocated specific session times to ensure under 13yr’s can climb with adequate supervision.

Under 13yrs kids will be allowed to climb during two sessions at Newstead on Saturday mornings. For your child to attend you will need to book your child into these sessions. These sessions will be supervised by our coaching team. Parents will not be allowed into the facility during this time due to the 20 patron facility capacity.

Memberships

What's happening with my membership during Phase 2?

You have the option to reactive your membership if you wish to climb during Phase 2 (June 13th – Qld) / (June 22nd – Vic) , or wait until Phase 3 (July 11th – Qld). The date for Phase 3 in Victoria have yet to be determined by government authorities.

Steps to reactivate in Phase 2:

  1. Login into the Booking System with your UC barcode
  2. If you are suspended you will see a pop-up window asking if you want to remove the suspension now.
  3. Once you select ‘Ok’ you will receive an email confirming your choice.

What if I can't afford my membership in Phase 3?

We understand that this is a tough time for some, and you may not be able to continue your membership in phase 3. If you are financially unable to re-activate your memberships during Phase 3; please let us know and we will work to keep your membership on a free suspension.

Can I use my free +1 member benefit?

No, not in Phase 2. Phase 2 is for current active members only.

Route Setting

Why are there less problems on the walls?

The gym is running at a 75% climb density in comparison to the regular setting density. This change is to allow for social distancing to be maintained within the gym.

How often will the climbs be changed?

All gyms (Qld and Vic) will be on a 3 week rotation. The setting team will be in 7 times a week across a 5 day period to fulfil this requirement.
