OK so this is going to be my exercise diary as suggested by Alex a.k.a afroman. I guess the idea is to show case my performance (which is phenomenal by any means) throughout my training in The Lab. Originally I set out with Claire (EP form The Lab) and set some main goals for my health, wealth and happiness! And I am now 7 weeks in, just had my first check in after the first portion of my training.
Got some great results to share with you all. But first I just want to tell you a little about my training, I meet with Claire once a week and go to The Lab Saturday morning circuit training. I also have to accompany this with a 3 day workout plan in the gym and daily core and stretch exercises. It sounds a bit full on but its fits into my busy week nicely. I had no idea how much time I would be able to spare getting into the gym but I have managed successfully so far and plan to do so more…
My first session consisted of taking measurement and testing to see just how weak I really was. And I even got a piece of paper at the end describing in acute detail to what level I was underperforming. Ha! I was slightly shocked that I ranked as below average in most categories, I thought that I has some muscle under my shirt, evidentially not so, but that’s why I signed up, to get fitter, better, happier and more productive (As Radiohead put it!)
First couple of weeks were hard going, I was finding myself holding back from throwing up after my intensely breath taking cardio enforced by Claire. I hope not to put her in a bad light, I told her to go hard on me because I need a hard trainer, she pushed me past my limits and still does! But does it with a smile on her face, and all for the greater good!
She even came up with my home and gym program for all my own training, which has kept the dullness of a usual gym session away and I get to vary my exercise enough that I can train everyday and not have to take rest days in between. However I keep my Sundays nice and easy with no exercise involved. It’s always good to have a break.
I have to say (and not just because I work here) that The Lab has been great for my training, I’ve encountered heaps of problems from a sore wrist, weird knees and tight muscles to lack of enthusiasm, and with expert help I have managed to maintain my exercise regime, safely, and been able to overcome these from doing so. Some of the problems were simple, like getting tight shin muscles from running too much and not stretching enough and I got given a load of great stretches to solve it. I am now reaping the benefits. I am also changing my diet too, with some great tips from Alex, which he has posted on The Lab website, and it’s not too drastic but helps heaps with your training goals and in general is better and healthier eating.
I am including below a little bit of my stats from my check in last week. And I hope to write in regularly and update you all on my progress.
Weight loss: 4.8Kgs
BMI point loss: 1.7
Body fat loss: 2.7%
Physical components
Fitness: Was Good, now Superior
Flexibility: Was way below average, now Average
Upper body strength: Was below average, now above average
Core strength: Was Very good, now outstanding
So I’m roughly 1/3 of the way there with all my goals and going strong. I’ve been given heaps of top advice from the guru’s at the Lab and will continue to do so up to and beyond my goals. That’s all for now but I will keep you posted! If you want any information on EP training at the Lab or circuit classes then contact the Lab on enquiries@the-lab.com.au.
